By Stephan Marking, April 10, 2010 9:25 am

Having windows that do not roll down all the way are annoying. It can also be annoying to have a car’s window not roll up either. Utah auto repair shops can quickly solve the problem, but if you have a basic understanding of how car’s work you can also fix the problem yourself.

To begin, see what is causing the malfunction. Find out what is causing it to stop working. Look at the switch and see if it is dirty. This can sometimes cause it to stop working correctly.

The main switch is normally located on the driver’s side, though you can check the passenger side switches as well if you would like. If you notice a dirty contact, clean it. Sometimes cleaning the contact solves the problem.

The easiest way to repair the motor without taking your car in to a Utah auto repair shop is to remove the door panel of the problem window. You may have to manually lower the window to find the bolts that are holding the regulator in place. Once the window is lowered it is usually easy to find the regulator, and remove the bolts holding it to the door.

You will need to disconnect the wiring and remove the old regulator. The old regulator will need to be replaced with a working regulator. You can normally find a regulator for your car window at a Utah auto repair shop.

Be sure the bolts are tight. Before you put everything back together check the wires and make sure they are in place. After you check you can close the door panel.

Once everything is closed the power switch for the window should work again. Try the switch and see if it works. If it does not, you can take it apart and try these steps again to make sure it is done correctly.

Car repair manuals are handy tools. They offer specific instructions for your car and how to correctly fix these types of issues. Utah auto repair shops are also great places to find specific tools you may need.

Important points to car maintenance

By -, July 26, 2009 10:33 pm

Today in this ear, everybody has to have a car. There are even some people who need to use planes. But the car to many people is crucial to live in this world. It gets people to and from work.  It takes people to go shopping.  It takes people to school. So what I have to share with you is the 3 crucial parts of having your car in good working order.

This is from a perspective from my experience running a San Diego auto repair company.  The two areas I want to address is your safety and your car’s long term health.

So in regards to safety you can classify all maintenance as being important to safety. But there is a part of your car that is critical to safety.  That part is your brakes. With cars being able to travel much faster than before, good brakes are essential for safety. With people being distracted with so many things you really need good brakes.By taking the proper steps to care for them you will always have the ability to brake in time.  Well taken care of brakes save lives and money.  I have seen it first hand running a San Diego brakes shop.

In relation to your car, your car’s overall health will be dependant on how well maintained you keep your car.  Some of the important things to do are oil changes and tuneups. By making an effort to always change the oil you allow your car to run smoother and longer.By not making sure your oil is always changed you can end up ruining your engine.

Another important thing you have to do is make sure you get regular tune ups.  If you do that you keep all your car’s major functions taken care of.  By doing this once again your car will runner smoother and cleaner.  If you don’t do this your car will run bad. Some things that can happen when you don’t do that is a failed smog test.  Most of the cars that fail in my San Diego smog check shop are the ones that didn’t take care of those things.

So by doing these two things you will keep your car safe and you and your loved ones safe.
